BOOK BLOG TOUR // CHARMING AS A VERB BY BEN PHILLIPPE

PUBLISHER: Blazer + Bray

PUBLICATION DATE: September 8th, 2020

SYNOPSIS

Henri “Halti” Haltiwanger can charm just about anyone. He is a star debater and popular student at the prestigious FATE academy, the dutiful first-generation Haitian son, and the trusted dog walker for his wealthy New York City neighbors. But his easy smile mask a burning ambition to attend his dream college, Columbia University.

There is only one person who seems immune to Henri’s charm: his “intense” classmate and neighbor Corinne Troy. When she uncovers Henri’s less-than-honest dog-walking scheme, she blackmails him into helping her change her image at school. Henri agrees, seeing a potential upside for himself.

MY THOUGHTS

This was such a cute summer themed enemies-to-lovers read. A coming of age with the two main characters being a BIPOC. Read in one sitting while smiling and LOL at the cute narratives. And as a dog mama, the entire dog walks and scenes were my absolute favorite. ⁣

I feel in love with both characters and could relate to Henri too during my time (. As for the diverse representation, that was top. And its exactly what we need now in literatures.

There are elements of racism and Classiam even being an immigrant that are of serious importance topics to be read about too.

Many thanks to The Colored Pages Book Tour for giving me the opportunity to participate in this.
